How I Became a Christian Meditation Teacher
Before I ever became a meditation teacher, I was simply someone in need of peace.
To understand how I got here, we have to start with what brought me to meditation in the first place.
I used to work as a forensic scientist, and it was one of the most high-pressure seasons of my life. There was a constant need to be perfect, to not make mistakes, and to carry the weight of responsibility in every detail. The workload, the expectations, and the pressure all added up over time, and it began to take a toll on me in ways I couldn’t ignore.
Then, in the midst of that, I was laid off.
In that unexpected pause, I found myself searching for something to help me cope, to breathe, to reset. That’s what led me to yoga. It became a doorway into something I didn’t even realize I needed. For the first time, I was able to get out of my head and into my body. It created space for stillness in a way I had never experienced before.
And from that place, meditation became easier.
After practicing yoga for some time, I decided to pursue yoga teacher training and eventually began teaching. But it wasn’t until a simple moment that everything truly shifted. A friend of mine was feeling overwhelmed and anxious, and I created a short guided meditation for her. It wasn’t anything elaborate, just something to help her breathe and feel grounded.
But in that moment, I realized something.
I loved it.
There was something deeply calming about guiding someone into stillness. It felt natural, sustainable, and aligned in a way I hadn’t experienced before. So I started creating more meditations, not fully realizing where it would lead.
Then the pandemic happened.
There was so much uncertainty, fear, and heaviness in the world. You could feel it everywhere. One day, I went into my closet, picked up my mic, and recorded a prayer meditation. I didn’t have a script or a plan. It was just a raw, honest prayer, led by the Holy Spirit.
I almost didn’t share it. It felt too vulnerable, too personal.
But I uploaded it to Insight Timer anyway.
And it resonated in a way I never expected.
People needed it. They were searching for something deeper, something rooted in faith, something that helped them connect with God in the quiet. That moment marked a turning point for me.
For a while, I continued sharing a mix of content, including general stress and anxiety meditations, guided mindfulness practices, and faith-based meditations. But over time, I began to notice a pattern. The Christian meditations were the ones people were returning to again and again. There was a deeper connection there, not just to the practice, but to God.
And I realized something else.
There wasn’t enough of it.
So I made the decision to fully step into Christian meditation. It was a little scary to niche down that much, knowing it might limit certain opportunities. But I also knew that if I could help even one person draw closer to God, if I could hold space for someone to experience His presence in a real and personal way, then it would be worth it.
It was the best decision I ever made.
What started as a personal practice has now grown into something so much bigger. Today, this work is both my business and my ministry. I teach on platforms like Insight Timer, partner with apps like Aura and Breethe, and have created my own app, Gather Wellness. I lead retreats, create faith-based products like my Breath & Prayer journal and affirmation cards, and now I help others become meditation teachers as well.
What once helped me find peace has now become the way I help others find it too.
Looking back, this path didn’t begin with a perfect plan. It began with a need for peace, a willingness to try something new, and a quiet yes to where God was leading me. And if you feel that same pull, that same curiosity, that same desire to help others, I want you to know it might not be random.
It may be an invitation.
