Feel the fear and do it anyway. - Myleik Teele
Happy happy Tuesday.
Today I want to talk about fear. I recently lisened to a podcast on She's Beauty and the Beast entitled "Why I'm Not About That Fear-Is-The-Enemy Life". In this pod, Tracy G shares her interview from Melissa Kimble's #blkcreatives call.
If you haven't had a chance to listen stop right now and go! It's packed with a ton of gems and truths about how fear is normal and you shouldn't let it hinder you.
It pushed me to look at a lot of things within my own life.
I've been debating on accomplishing a HUGE goal of mine in 2017. I've always written it down in my journal and have always said one day when I'm ready and more experienced. Key word... ONE DAY.
No plan. No hard deadline. So what was stopping me?
The fear of not being good enough. The fear of not being ready. The fear of failing. And the fear of spending $3000 that deep down I knew was a good investment, but let's face it, $3000 is not something you casually just put out.
Over the past few months I have had more than a few people tell me that I need to do it or they assumed I already had. The funny thing is I didn't even mention to them that I was even thinking about it. Affirmation.
Then of course my virtual mentor began to yell at me through posts on social media saying things like set clear goals, just do it, embrace the fear etc.
So guess what... I'm doing it! 2017. I'm taking this huge leap that will only push me closer to my goal which is retiring from corporate America at 32 and working for myself.
Yes, I'm scared. Yes, the fears are still very much present. But I'm learning to acknowledge them for what they are, feeling it, and doing it anyway :) #JustBecauseItsTuesday
