I will never forget that microbiology lab.
As a biology major in college, microbiology was one of my favorite labs (don't ask why).
I remember one day our assignment was to swab one of our personal belongings and we would determine what kind of bacteria was growing on it.
You could choose anything from your phone, pencil, water bottle etc. I chose to do the bottom of my purse. When I tell you the my little petri dish filled up over the next couple of day of all types of visible bacteria to the point it made me gag, whew!
Ever since then I make sure that I wipe down and disinfect my personal items every now and then, including my yoga mat.
My mat is constantly on the floor and ground and though I'm the only one using it, I can only imagine what kinds of bacteria is living on it.
Here is an easy all natural DIY yoga mat cleaner that you can use.
What you will need:
1/4 cup Witch Hazel
3/4 cup water
Tea Tree Essential Oil (has antibacterial properties!)
Combine the witch hazel and water with a few drops of tea tree oil into a spray bottle. Spray both sides of your mat and wipe with a cloth. Allow to dry in direct sunlight.
I like to clean my mat about once a week!
Be awesomely amazing,
