Have you heard Solange's new album "A Seat at the Table"?!? GIRL.
I have to be honest and say that I've never actually listened to her stuff but was intrigued by the visuals this time around so decided to sit down and take a listen.
The soulful mellow vibes puts her in a league of her own and right up my alley with sounds that definitely resonate with me.
With a mix of good music and inspirational interludes I have to say that I loved them all but one song in particular stood out.
Cranes in the sky.
I was immediately captured by the beat, but once I heard the lyrics I was hooked.
I tried to drink it away
I tried to put one in the air
I tried to dance it away
I tried to change it with my hair
I ran my credit card bill up
Thought a new dress would make it better
I tried to work it away
But that just made me even sadder
Truth is, everyone has been there. Depression, a bad break up, grief, pain, etc. The list goes on.
I'm transparent, so mine was depression. Alcohol was my vice and, because of that, I no longer keep hard liquor in my home. There's nothing cute about taking shots BY YOURSELF on the kitchen floor at 4am in the morning trying to numb the pain because depression and anxiety decided to show it's ugly face.
What I've yet to figure out are these cranes.
Cranes as in mechanical or birds?
My opinion is birds. Some species of cranes are highly migratory and constantly on the go, so because she is trying to find different ways to fill this void it's like cranes or birds in the sky moving, not wanting to feel those metal clouds as in rain filled heavy clouds that can weigh them down.
I don't know just my thought..
I also noticed how many other people have said they've been there too. We all go through things. We all try to fill voids. We all are trying to figure this thing called life out. Just stay focused, keep course, and most importantly put your faith in God. He's got you ;) #JustBecauseItsTuesday
Be awesomely amazing,
