As Cherry Blossom season has begun, in comes the many festivals and events surrounding the blooms of the beautiful floral trees. I've been in Northern VA for exactly 6 months and have been waiting for the spring to hit because with the warm weather I hope to get out and explore more, especially in DC.
This past weekend Brittany and I took on the Cherry Blossom Beer and Wine Festival that was hosted by #DrinkTheDistrict.
The day started with rain and snow showers which had me fearing the chill the day would encompass, but lucky for us, by the start of the festival at 1pm the rain had stopped and the sun even decided to make an appearance!
Although the wind was a little intense, we had tons of wines and beers to taste while enjoying the live music and food truck options.
"So, where do we start?!" That's what I found myself asking as we checked in and grabbed our glasses. We headed to a table with no line and got straight to it. 3 glasses in I was already feeling a buzz, and so we decided to get some food before we got too smacked.
Her choice was the Big Cheese truck which had tons of yummy grilled cheese sandwich choices to choose from. I, on the other hand, knew that I needed some meat, so I went with a tasty chicken sandwich from Urban Bumpkin BBQ that had a yummy smoked taste served on a hawaiian bun with a side of slaw.
After inhaling our food with a side of hoppy beer we went back on our rounds.
There was so much to choose from and by the end of the day I don't even think we hit every booth. The only thing I didn't like about this fest (as opposed to the NC Wine Fest) is that there's not an option to buy. While the wines and beers were all local so we could find them if we wanted to, it would've been nice to put together a variety six pack to take home.
Overall it was a great festival and it was nice to get out in the city!
Until my next DC adventures...
Be awesomely amazing,
