Prayer is when you talk to God, Meditation is when you listen.
A few months back I shared in a book corner post how I had picked up Russell Simmons' book "Success Through Stillness". I began to become more intrigued with bettering my lifestyle by incorporating meditation into my daily routine.
I was already doing yoga and I pray multiple times throughout the day, so why not take a moment to just be still, breathe and see what benefits it can provide.
If you have participated in a yoga class, you know that little space at the end of the class where you lay in savasana or corpse pose and are just being still and breathing? Well that's a form of meditation!
As someone who struggles with anxiety and occasional stress taking at least 10 minutes to meditate daily makes all the difference in the world.
The majority of the time I prefer guided meditations. Someone's voice reminding me to focus on my breath instead of letting my mind wander, or being instructed to visualize certain things, really allows me to hone in on my little escape from the real world.
If you're looking to get started and are not sure how to, try the Do You Yoga 30 Day Meditation Challenge with Faith Hunter. I promise it will change your life.
Her challenge made me realize meditation isn't about humming "OM", and how instead it's about being still and clearing your mind.
Take about 10 minutes today to start meditating!
