ACV Hair Rinse | Dry, Flaky Scalp
If you don't know by now I love being in the kitchen. Combine that with my love for natural hair and it's only right that I will create my own hair rinses, remedies and treatments before I run out and buy a new product.
With winter comes a dry, flaky scalp. Maybe not for you but that's an issue I've been facing for awhile. I deal with occasional dandruff year round but for some reason in the winter it gets 10x worse!
I put together this rinse and it has been a major key on keeping my scalp under control.
What's in it:
- 1/2 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar (I like using Bragg Organic Raw ACV)
- 1/2 cup Water
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Jojoba Oil
- 1/4 tsp Tea Tree Oil (optional: for those really rough weeks)
Combine all ingredients and apply to dry hair/scalp prior to shampooing. Massage in with the tips of your fingers and let sit for about 20 minutes. Rinse and shampoo and as normal.
I find that this rinse is great for clarifying my scalp and really cuts down on flakes due to its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. It's also good to do if you are cowashing and feel that you can't really get your scalp clean.
ACV has additional benefits of adding shine to hair, balancing scalp and hair pH, sealing the hair cuticle to retain moisture, and also promoting hair growth.
Incorporate this rinse into your regimen about twice a month and take note of all the benefits it offers your hair!
