Whether it's date night or you just want to switch things up a bit than rocking your usual twist out I have the perfect style! As I'm embracing this awkward stage my hair is currently at I am missing my taper like crazyyy. I decided to throw some twist on the side and do a quick roller set for a faux fro hawk situation. I usually do this style by just slicking up the sides and pinning it up but this time I wanted it to be a little "neater" so I decided to do the twists and roller set.
Lets get started!
What you will need:
- Setting lotion or foaming mousse
- Perm rods
- Bobby pins
- Edge control
This is my favorite setting lotion for natural hair. The Argan oil in it has great moisturizing properties leaving the curls shiny and smooth.
Do note I've been told by my sister, who is not natural...yet ;), that when using this mousse for a roller set, it left her hair greasy with curls that did not hold so it may be one of those products only naturals would want to use.
Other products mentioned in the video:
As you can see in the tutorial, I started with freshly co-washed hair and applied my leave in. I then just put in two flat twist on each side of my head and installed the perm rods at the top.
After dry, I removed the rollers, separated and fluffed followed by pinning the back of my hair, including the twists, up.
This style can also be completed with braids or twist instead of rolling! Whatever you're in the mood for!
I've noticed that this style gets even cuter after a couple of days with the bigger the hair gets after the curls have stretched!
